Course Exemptions
If you’ve already completed relevant qualifications—such as a B.Com, MBA, CA, CIMA, AAT, CMA, or an assessed university degree—you may be eligible for exemptions from certain ACCA exams. This means you can skip select Applied Knowledge and Applied Skills papers, enabling you to start your ACCA pathway at the appropriate level for your background.
- You’ll need to apply via your myACCA account upon registration, upload official transcripts, and pay each exemption fee within 30 days of award.
- Conditional exemptions may be available if you’re still completing your degree; final certification is required before exemptions are confirmed.
- No exemptions apply to Strategic Professional-level exam. Every candidate must complete these regardless of prior credentials.

- Upload transcripts and proof of completion with your registration.
- Pay the required exemption fees per paper through myACCA.

Affiliation with Universities
Oxford Brookes University BSc (Hons) in Applied Accounting
Available until May 2026
Mercury University students enrolled in the ACCA Qualification are automatically registered for Oxford Brookes University’s BSc (Hons) in Applied Accounting — a program that runs until May 2026.
To qualify, you must:
- Pass all 9 Applied Knowledge & Applied Skills exams, including Financial Reporting, Audit & Assurance, and Financial Management (no conditional exemptions allowed).
- Complete the Ethics & Professional Skills Module.
- Submit and pass a Research & Analysis Project (RAP) to Oxford Brookes within the submission windows (May & November), paying a fee (£520+), with a deadline of May 2026.
- Maintain currency of knowledge, either by submitting the RAP within 10 years of your first ACCA pass/exemption, or by passing three ACCA Applied Skills or Strategic Professional exams in the prior five years—or by being an ACCA member in good standing.
Please note: If you hold exemptions for FR, AA, or FM, these must be forfeited before RAP submission. Members with these exemptions are ineligible (they cannot reverse this decision).
University of London BSc (Hons) in Professional Accountancy
Launching March 2026
Starting March 2026, ACCA students, affiliates, and members will have the opportunity to earn a new BSc (Hons) in Professional Accountancy from the University of London. This innovative degree is fully integrated with the ACCA qualification and can be completed entirely online or through Recognised Teaching Centres. It removes the requirement for a Research & Analysis Project and aligns closely with ACCA exams such as Performance Management (PM) and Financial Management (FM). The program is flexible and can be completed in 12 months to 3 years, with applications opening in December 2025.
This new degree is designed for students seeking global academic recognition while progressing through their professional qualification.

On-Demand Computer-Based Exams (Applied Knowledge)
ACCAs first four papers—Business & Technology (BT), Management Accounting (MA), Financial Accounting (FA), and Corporate & Business Law (LW)—are now available as on-demand CBEs, offering full flexibility throughout the year. Exams can be taken at approved centers or remotely invigilated from home, and results are provided instantly on-screen, then uploaded within 72 hours. Eligible students can check availability and minimum technical requirements directly on ACCA’s exam portal accaglobal.com.

Session-Based CBEs (Applied Skills & Strategic Professional)
Applied Skills (Performance Management, Taxation, Financial Reporting, Audit and Assurance, Financial Management) and Strategic Professional papers (Strategic Business Leader, Strategic Business Reporting, and 2 optional) are offered on fixed window dates: March, June, September, and December annually. All these exams are fully computer-based, with bookings done via your myACCA account.

Becoming an ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) Member means you’ve earned one of the most globally respected designations in finance and accounting. To qualify for membership, candidates must complete three essential components:
- Pass the ACCA Exams
- Successfully complete all 13 exams across the three levels:
- Applied Knowledge
- Applied Skills
- Strategic Professional (including 2 Essentials and 2 Options)
- Complete the Ethics and Professional Skills Module (EPSM)
- A mandatory online module that builds critical ethical judgment, communication, and leadership skills.
- Must be completed before or alongside Strategic Professional exams.
- Fulfill the Practical Experience Requirement (PER)
- A key part of the ACCA qualification is 36 months (three years) of relevant, supervised work experience, alongside completing nine Performance Objectives—five Essentials and four Technical in your area of focus.
- You can fulfill this experience in multiple roles or organizations—even through part-time, intern, or volunteer positions—provided it’s supervised and signed off via the MyExperience tool in your myACCA account.
- Mercury supports your journey with work placement guidance, career advice, and help logging and validating progress toward your PER, including supervisor matching and performance objective alignment.
- By combining exams, the Ethics & Professional Skills module, and practical experience, ACCA ensures you graduate not just with knowledge—but with the real-world competence and professional mindset demanded by today’s employers
Once all three components are complete, you can apply for ACCA membership via your myACCA portal. After approval, you’ll officially gain the ACCA designation, unlocking global opportunities in accounting, audit, finance, and leadership roles.
