You can gain a BSc (Hons) degree in Applied Accounting in just one and a half years. The degree is
equivalent to a four-year degree and recognized by the University Grants Commission of Sri Lanka
(Commonwealth Universities Yearbook).

To be awarded the Oxford Brookes BSc (Hons) in Applied Accounting you must:

  • Complete all ACCA Applied Knowledge and Applied Skills exams – including taking and passing Financial Reporting (FR), Audit and Assurance (AA) and Financial Management (FM). Compromising of nine subjects in total (Three Applied Knowledge Level Papers + Six Applied Skills Level Papers).
  • Complete and pass the Oxford Brookes University Research and Analysis Project.
  • Complete the ACCA Ethics and Professional Skills module according to the Research and Analysis Project submission dates.

Upon completion of the degree you have the following options:

  1. Complete the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants qualification (ACCAUK) by completing four Strategic Professional Level Papers (duration: six months – one year).
  2. Complete the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA USA) qualification (duration: 18 Months)
  3. Enter the University of Canada West MBA Program (Duration – Two Years)
  4. Any other postgraduate qualification in Sri Lanka or abroad

Awarding degrees

Oxford Brookes University – like other UK universities – has degree awarding power, granted by Royal Charter. But what does this mean? Well, these powers are granted on the basis of Oxford Brookes University having appropriate procedures for assuring the quality and standards of its awards in both design and operation, and being subject to the scrutiny of the QAA, the body responsible to the UK Government’s Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills for assuring the quality of UK Higher Education in the public interest. So although you don’t physically attend Oxford Brookes University to gain the BSc (Hons) degree in Applied Accounting, the degree program of the same rigorous standard as other degrees offered by Oxford Brookes University and meets standards set by QAA.

Independently assessed

By gaining the BSc (Hons) in Applied Accounting, awarded by Oxford Brookes University, you will not only demonstrate to potential or existing employers that you possess all the relevant graduate skills to equip you for a brilliant career in accounting and finance, but that it is from a university that has a reputation for excellence.

1. After Ordinary Levels (Pending Results or with Results)
Students above 16 years of age may be eligible to commence this course

2. After Advanced Levels (Pending Results or with Results)
Students above 16 years of age may be eligible to commence this course

Exemptions are offered to students who have studied relevant accountancy, finance and management qualifications.

You will need to pay a fee for each paper exempted. Exemptions are charged at the early exam entry fee.
